View source. Short description: Muslim thinker, orator and missionary from South Africa (1918-2005) Sheikh Ahmed Deedat. Personal. Born. Ahmed Husein Deedat [1] [2] ( 1918-07-01) 1 July 1918. Surat, Bombay Presidency, British India.
Ahmed Hoosen Deedat, also known as Ahmed Deedat and Shaikh Ahmed Deedat, was a Muslim missionary and self-taught scholar on Islam and Quran. He was not only well-versed in Islamic studies but also Christian theology, including the Bible. His uniqueness as a missionary was his ability to draw parallels between the Bible and the Quran
Deedat traveled to Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Morocco, Kenya, Sweden, Australia, Denmark, and Iran during his long service to Islam. He was profoundly moved by his visit to Iran in 1982. Upon returning to South Africa, he began to encourage unity between the Sunni and Shiite factions of Islam and spoke glowingly about his encounter with
Dr. Zakir Naik speaking about the full history of his interaction with Sheikh Ahmed Deedat in his life. Dr. Naik tell about their first meeting, learning from him, taking inspiration from
English. Ahmed Deedat was born in the town of Tadkeshwar, Surat District, Gujarat, India in 1918. [3] His father had emigrated to South Africa shortly after the birth of Ahmed Deedat. At the age of 9, Deedat left India to join his father in what is now known as Kwazulu-Natal.
The late Deedat was awarded the King Faisal International Prize in 1986 for his 50 years of missionary work. His son Yousuf is a famous community activist and Muslim scholar in Durban.
A Dire Warning Sheikh Ahmed Deedat أحمد ديدات - رحمه الله Religious history has left clear evidence that nations who failed to harken to the call of their Prophets, were replaced
Born in Surat (India) in 1918, he joined his father in South Africa in 1927. He was able to learn English in a short time and was a bright pupil. However, he had to leave school at the age of 16 to support his family. He vigorously pursued self-education, including extensive studies on comparative religion, while working in a furniture shop.
Ahmed Hoosen Deedat, a man whose voice of courage and truth served as a beacon of light, amidst the prejudice and hypocrisy of the neo-missionary crusaders of the 20th century and amidst the gloom cast by the oppressive injustices of the capitalist world order, has finally passed away into the presence of his Lord.
Ahmed Deedat is considered as one the great missionary scholars of Christology both from Islamic and Christian sides. As the studies about 'Deedatian Revolution' imply that it had far-reaching results, it could be analyzed as zealous effort of puritan Muslim to save whole human kind from absurd and superseded beliefs.
